Visiting Brampton Library

Brampton is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Canada. Through our Multicultural Services, the Brampton Library offers a variety of programs, learning resources, and materials that are readily available to all users.

Information about the Library

  • All members of the public are welcome to use the materials and facilities of the library
  • The Brampton Library has 6 locations in the city
  • Membership is free for everyone. To obtain a library card, you need identification plus some document showing your address
  • Library users may borrow 50 items per card. This includes books, magazines, CDs, videos and DVDs
  • Library users may borrow most materials for 3 weeks. Videos and DVDs may be borrowed for one week
  • To obtain a longer loan (borrowing) period: If you need your items for longer than the time you already have them, you may renew them (borrow them again) twice more, if no one else has requested them
  • If the items you have borrowed are not returned by the date they are due, there is a charge (called a late fee) of 25 cents per day on each item except videos and DVDs. The overdue charge for videos and DVDs is $1.00 per item per day
  • Library Programs
The library offers free programs for children, youth and adults. These include storytimes and other book-related programs for the children, workshops for business people, multicultural workshops for newcomers to Canada, and computer workshops for all adults who are interested
  • See the Events Calendar for a current list of programs
